Prague in passing

I was unable to see

The morning through your eyes,

To fit the time in a painting

And lock him out in one of your museums.

I was unable to cover

Your dusty beauty

In a few souvenirs that

I bought when I left

I was unable to keep your past

Over my present

For just one more moment,

I was unable to bring a piece of you

Home, with me.

I was unable to print

Your overwhelming beauty

Over my retina

And make it last forever.

I was unable to stay for long

In your prepossessing panorama

Of romance and inimitability

Now, I’m just unable

To remove you from my memories

And bring you back to life.
