I will see you soon

Hello to the limbs that fidget irrepressibly,

to the mind that explores my distant dreams

to the nimble feet that walk and never reach

those furtive lands of mystery and wander

Hello to the eyes that twitch and tremor

Above the half- written essay on my screen,

below the desk of wooden futility

Searching for the serenity of the unknown

Hello to the places I haven’t explored

To Hampi and Hong Kong

To Hamilton and Hammer Springs

But I lay hitched under the belt of this suppressive degree

Take me to Spain for a year

Teach me Japanese

Let me skydive over Taupo

Let me practise the art of vinyasa yoga

Hello to all the trails I have not crossed

The rivers I have not rowed

The seas I have not sailed

I will see you soon

Do wait for me

And remain unchanged until I get there
